"what I dream the day might send...just around the riverbend...coming for me." ^_^
Lord, thank You. For life, for love, for family and for friends. Thank You for Your Son.
There will never be a day that I cease to marvel at Your goodness and amazing grace. *bounce bounce back, shake it off, get right on track*
Excited!!!!
You hold my world in Your hands- that means...adventure! Excitement! Total and utter surrender! I love it!
I have to quote belle on this- "far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!" ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
(the rest of the song lyrics also include - "ohhhh...isn't this amaaaazing? It's my favourite part because you'll seeeee....here's where she meets prince charming...but she won't discover that it's him til chapter threeeeee..." lol. I always knew I liked that Disney princess- she was the only one who was smart and read books. Lol. And could see past outer appearances for who it was within. ^_^)
My favourite heroines of cartoons always are the spunky kinds. But yes I know that every one had a rags to riches story. I just liked a few more than others... Lol. (sorry dudes, tonight is a bit of the childish girl in me that is blogging)
1. Mulan- for obvious reasons. Who in their right minds would eat, feed the chickens, copy script and help the dog exercise? Multi tasker extraordinaire. Lol. She's also asian. ^_^ and so incredibly brave. Someone who could reach the hearts of the men around her while fighting to bring her father honour.
2. Anya/ Anastasia- orphaned when her whole family was murdered, but would not let that get her down. She was incredibly brave to "journey to her past" and "learn to do it"- dance, eat properly, ride a horse...study her history of "and here we have potemkin, shot bodemkin in the bodkin." heehee.
3. Pocahontas- she bridged cultures and never let prejudice cloud her judgment. ^_^ she is also adventurous and able to make the tough decisions, I think this was the first Disney heroine who didn't end up with her love interest. But she was strong and chose to "listen with her heart".
4. Kiara- Simba's daughter, lol. Okay...not sure if she's considered a princess.. but hello, she was voiced by liz callaway (anastasia's voice) and she was quick to realise that peace and family was very important. I actually liked lion king 2. Lol. She saw things in totality. ^_^
5. Belle- as mentioned above. Only princess who read, rode a horse, talked to teacups and candlesticks, danced and saw past the beastly exterior to the true man within. ^_^
6. Catwoman- hahahahaha. Okay, don't get me started. I liked selina kyle for MANY reasons. She's the only one who can sneak into batman's consciousness, is skilled enough to be able to match him and others, is strong, is smart, beautiful and knows how to wield a whip while fighting. Meowr...Lol. (yes, I also had a comic book phase while growing up.) I found batman to be my favourite- rich but wanted to do more than sit back and let the system handle crime. He's smart and invented everything he needs plus well trained for the fight. Also was the only member of the Justice League WITHOUT SUPER POWERS- he was there cause he was smart. Lol. But he's a bit of a loner... Lol. Save for the select few...(not bad that he even joined the JL. It already took forever for him to accept Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing and Oracle into his fold besides Alfred) Yes yes, I have a thing for the silent, tall, broody types. Hahaha. And just for the comic buffs- I read up til "no man's land" as a teen and am up to speed on "arkham city" now because of my brother. =p
But yeah, I liked these women cause they reflected these heroines too:
1. Deborah- she would go to war when no man would.
2. Esther- the orphan turned queen who would rather face death than let her people die.
3. Rahab- the prostitute in Jericho who let in the Israeli spies and who was named as a part of Jesus' lineage. She was smart enough to bridge that cultural gap and smart enough to see what was coming.
4. Mary, who recognised the great cost it would be to bear a child as a virgin woman. And the faith she had in Joseph to pull through for her. Her ability to suffer through watching her firstborn son die...as well as to demand a miracle before its time (h2o to wine) She launched Jesus' earthly ministry! At a wedding, no less! Super high profile. In today's world, she would have made an amazing PR person. ^_^
5. Ruth- smart enough to go to Boaz's fields and glean. Smart enough to lay beside him while he was resting and get a hold of his attention according to the customs of his time. Smart enough to know she had to get married to him for Naomi and her to survive.
6. Rebecca- lol! As catwoman was sneaky, she was the only one who managed to sneak into Isaac's consciousness and was one step ahead, reversing the birthright and giving it to Jacob- who would later become Israel. She was beautiful (Pharoah tried to make her a part of his harem), smart- goat skins, Esau's clothes and cooking venison for her son? And could hold her own in this story, telling Jacob to go to Laban, her brother when his brother wanted to kill him. ^_^
Hey, the women of the bible were not weak characters. They were strong, beautiful and able to hold their own. ^_^ What I love about each of these characters is- they were women just like you and I.
And God uses women- the secret weapons in His army. It is almost an automatic inbuilt ability for us to sense and intuit the feelings of those around us, the needs of others and how best to attend to them. God created His army to have medics, intelligence officers and infantry to be women. Lol. It is amazing when you read the bible. God used women strategically throughout time, most of the time as wives and mothers...but also even when they were single. And look at the black eyes the enemy got throughout the ages. ^_^
Now, who says the Word of God isn't exciting? I can barely sleep due to all the promise of adventure with Him. ^_^ heehee.
P.s: the character I most want to be like in fiction, however, is Lucy. She was the closest to Aslan and her weapons were a dagger and a vial of healing solution. ^_^ She chased Him first, with all her heart. And she knew Him well. I want to be just like her. =) always chasing after Him like a little child.
/edit: I have never seen my younger brother raise his voice ever. Today he did- to resolve a situation and take a place of leadership and responsibility. I am very proud of him. He did something that I might not have done objectively. Silence is strength indeed. And a well placed word and tonality by someone who is a fantastic observer is a tremendous gift.
