Alice In Wonderland

Went to watch this movie with Lyddie and Pete just now. I was actually planning on giving this movie a miss cause it's directed by one of my least favourite directors, Tim Burton (the nightmare before christmas, coraline, edward scissorhands, sleepy hollow, sweeny todd: demon barber of fleet street) Notice the trend in the movies he directs? Horror-odd-weird-creepy-things...

But I found it to be rather interesting and encouraging, at the same time. Thank God for Disney! LOL. "Think of the impossible. I often think of at least 6 impossible things before breakfast everyday!" was my takeaway. To dream big and trust that God will make impossible situations possible.

It was also great to see the bits of Christ in the movie. One of them was about the this "vorpal" sword (which Lewis Carroll made by alternating between the words verbal and gospel) in which the blue caterpillar tells Alice to "keep it by your side" and "just pick it up, the vorpal sword knows what to do and will strike through and through". It struck me how the Word of God (becomes a sword by our speech) is that sword. "We overcome him by the blood of the lamb and by the Words of our testimony".

It's one movie for the keeping again. Except the parts where witchcraft (even by the white queen) was used, I found the movie to be inspiring and fulfilling, albeit the feminist "You don't need a man! You can discover and change the world by yourself and your choices" at the end was the ultimate cliched moment.

So yeah... do catch it! And try to find Christ "Through the looking glass" =) Alice, does indeed face her fears and the jabberwocky (the devil incarnate) head on. And gotta love the suit of armour she wears!!! (reminded me of Narnia)

SPEAKING OF WHICH!!!! I'll be watching Voyage of the Dawn Treader in Korea!!! Release Date: 12th October 2010!!! =) WOOHOO!!!! *excited* I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the movies have kept true to the books so far! hee hee. May God be exalted through them!
