"I'll call you 'Rose'"

Once upon a time, there was the Sun.
While on the earth, grew a creeper
Too small, a little green
And compared to others, a whole lot weaker.

Everyday, the Sun gave His light
And the little vine grew thicker.
It took in water and ignored its plight
Amongst the towering, mighty Firs.

As it gained strength, a playful child
Came and laid a stone against its sides.
Laughing at it being defiled
And then walked away with great pride.

Struggling as it could, the little vine tried
To reach the Sun with her great burden.
However she might, however she cried
She seemed lost, alone and broken.

But one day, a Gardener came
And removed the heavy load.
He built around her a mainframe;
A trellis, new earth- her new abode.

He watered her and looked after her constantly-
This Father with many children.
Tender and loving and oh so kindly,
She strengthened under His givin'.

Under His care she stood up straight
And learnt to love that playful little boy.
The stone that he laid against her helped create
The weight at her roots and now brought her much joy.

"I'll call you 'Rose'" One of the Gardener's sons said,
Even as she was nothing but leaves and twigs and vine.
It gave her a promise- to look ahead;
And with His words she chose to align.

One day she discovered, a couple had gathered.
To pause and stop and stare.
"Oh she's beautiful!" the lady whispered
"Her fragrance fills the air!"

That was when she realised
That her dreams had now come true.
The little vine, once despised
Now was something new.

Raising her head towards her Sun,
She was thankful with what she chose.
True enough, as was said by the Son,
In His time, she had become that Rose.
